Academic Life at WBS

Wekerle Business School has a thriving academic life. We enhance our students’ academic activities in the field of economics and social sciences by editing a scientific periodical, organising conferences and round table discussions.

economic life and society

Articles of internationally recognized foreign and Hungarian scientists as well as of students are published in our periodical. It is a widely acknowledged professional periodical, which is eagerly used by the teachers of the school as resource material.

Our school joined this event and has organised many scientific conferences within the frame of this programme. Our Annual Hungarian Science Conference is held in November, where ministers, state secretaries, administrative leaders and leading business executives participate and give us the honour of presenting their lectures.

The scientific conference commemorating our eponym - Sándor Wekerle - is held in the month of November, where scholarships are awarded to outstanding students of WBS.

professional evenings

Leading business executives, administration leaders and highly acclaimed experts are invited for round table discussions allowing students to benefit from their professional experience in informal settings.

Students will be given the opportunity to participate in research projects related to their field of study.

vice rectorLászló Árva PhD Habil., Vice Rector of Wekerle Sándor Business School, responsible for scientific affairs of the school, is Professor of Marketing and World Economy. He is Hungarian, earned his university diploma and his PhD degree in management sciences in Hungary.

Formerly he was regular professor at the Budapest filial of ESSCA, a French Business School (École supérieure des sciences commerciales d'Angers), for 10 years. He was working as well as visiting professor at Corvinus University of Budapest and of the Reims Management School, a French business school in Eastern France, as well.

Before 1990 worked as a senior researcher at the National Planning Office of Hungary, then was working as government counsellor in Laos (1980-1982) and in Angola (between 1985 and 1989). After 1990 was the founder president of the Hungarian Small Business Administration (1990-1992), a Hungarian government organization, then later acted as general director of the National Tourism Office of the Hungarian Government. Later worked as consultant for companies, municipalities and for Hungarian Chambers of Commerce.

He speaks fluent English and French. His research interest relates primarily to the fields Globalization and Marketing. Wrote numerous articles and books on the questions of these topics, published in Hungary, in France, in the UK, in Germany, in India, and in other countries as well.

We provide a high standard research library for the students, teachers and academics of Wekerle Business School.

Besides numerous specialised books, textbooks and theses, electronic resources and databases are also accessible. We have access to the National Audio-visual Archive as well as to other significant EBSCO databases through EBSCOhost (Academic Search Complete, Business Source Premier, Masterfile Premier, etc.). Theses of the past years are also available in the library.

We welcome anyone who is doing any kind of academic research, as well as our students who are working on their theses. Internet access, photocopying and printing possibilities are also available.

All visitors are welcome and we wish them success in their academic endeavours.
